Is Affirmative Action Really Necessary?

It is aimed at giving greater opportunities for groups of people who have suffered past discrimination. Setting up of quotas is the most controversial part of Affirmative Action programmes. Opposers of the policy argue that everybody should be provided equal opportunities based on merit without regard to race, sex or color.
